This is my second Ninja coffee maker. I have been using one of the older models for a few years now after dumping my Keurig. It has served me well but I decided to try this newer model because of the attached frother. My old one came with a glass with a manual frother which worked well but having the attached one is much easier. Overall, it still makes great coffee. I used to use the paper filters but this model came with the screen type. I can taste a slight difference using that over paper (I have tried both with my new machine). I find the screen filter tastes cleaner. Hard to describe but that is the best I can do.
One of the downsides to this machine is that it is very big. Probably 50% bigger than my old one so I had to make more room on my already cluttered counter. I am guessing that the extra size is due to the motor for the frother. If not, then this design is flawed in the space saving category. The coffee grind pot area is easier to use than my old one. This one swings to the left rather than pull straight out and there is a top tray that easily comes out to wash so I don’t have to take the entire section off like the old one. The water reservoir also comes out easier with no twisting and locking needed. Just drops in. There are 2 additional settings for size on this machine. An extra-large cup and extra-large travel mug. The travel mug one is very nice as it fills my oversized mug I bring on long trips.
I have made all of the different types of coffee such as classic brew, rich, iced and specialty. The machine is quieter than my old one and seems faster at brewing. As already stated, the coffee comes out great. I do have an issue with the frother. Probably my mistake on understanding what it does. I have an espresso machine that uses water from the reservoir to make steam for the frothing. It heats the milk during the process. I assumes this did something similar but it does not. If you want warm milk, you need to heat it up in the microwave before frothing. Otherwise, the frother will just make cold froth. It is OK though as I can heat the milk while the coffee is being made. But it would be nice for a future model to add ability to heat the milk during the frothing.
My only other complaint is that I can’t find a storage clip or spot for the frother attachment. The measuring spoon has one so would have thought there would be one for the attachment. No such luck unless I am blind. But overall, another great coffee maker that will hopefully serve me well for many years.
